How Can I Increase Traffic To My Ebay Store?

When you open an eBay store, your first concern is how to drive traffic to it.

Here are some ideas that will serve your purpose:

1. Search engine optimization: Make the best use of search engine optimization.

For search engine optimization, the first priority is to make the correct use of keywords in your store name, store URL, store descriptions and product categories.

For example, if you sell toys, then you could have a store name like, “The World of Toys” or “Toy World”. The store name itself should be descriptive of what it sells. When the store name signifies what it sells, it is easy for search engines to index it in the right category. If your store name consists of the right keywords, then whenever there is a query for your products, your eBay store would appear on the top of search engine results.

Apart from this, you should also make use of the right keywords in your store description. If you sell toys, you could use keywords like toddlers’ toys, educational toys, remote controlled cars, soft toys and so on. You could also add names of the most popular toys, like Barbie, in your description. Make sure that you do not use irrelevant words or the words that add no meaning to your description. This is because you’ve only limited characters for writing your store description and you should make the most of it.

• You should have quality inbound links for your eBay store. There are many ways of developing good quality inbound links. If you have an online store, you could add some links of your eBay store on that, write articles related to your niche and submit them to article directories, start a blog on your website and include links of your eBay store in them, or participate in forums and give links to your eBay store at a few places. While link building is an important part of search engine optimization, it should be done carefully in order to avoid spamming.

• Cross promoting the products also helps in developing good quality inbound links. Cross promoting means that you show buyers the products that they might be interested in. For example, if a buyer bids for shoes, then he should be able to see all the products that are similar or complementary to shoes, like socks, sneakers, sandals, flip-flops, available in your store. You should also cross promote your products by asking other sellers to show your listings along with their listings. This is known as cross-promotion connections on eBay where two sellers display listings of each other’s products along with their listings.

2. Internet marketing: There are many ways of marketing on the Internet.

E-mail marketing: Use e-mail marketing to promote your products. However, before sending such promotional e-mails, first get the permission of the receiver. You could develop an opt-in-mail list by having an option at the bottom of your blog “Would you like to receive promotional e-mails”. You could also include such an option in the thanks e-mails that you send to your buyers after the completion of sale.

Marketing through social networking websites: The recent trend is to market your business through social networking websites like Twitter and Facebook. You could tweet something about your business and add the link of your eBay store. You could join a Facebook group or create a Facebook fan page. All this will help you attract traffic to your eBay store.

3. Promote your products through auctions: Auctions are very powerful in driving traffic to your eBay store. Every week, try to auction some of the most popular products. Keep the starting price of these auctions low in order to attract bidders. When buyers start visiting your listing, they’d see your eBay store logo. Some of them will visit your store to check what you sell. You will remain surprised by this strategy, since many buyers are unwilling to wait for the auction to end and will buy it now from your eBay store. Also it is not unusual for auctions to end at a higher price than what you are selling the product at in your eBay store (strange but true, buyers still enjoy the excitement of the auction format and of winning a bid).

you could also use paid marketing methods like PPC campaigns and Google Adwords.

Listing products for auctions has really worked for me. Whenever I list one or two products for auction, I notice a sudden increase in traffic to my eBay store. I start my auctions from 1 cent. 1-cent auction listings have the potential of attracting huge traffic, and once a large number of buyers come to your listing, you can get a decent percentage of them to come to your eBay store.
